Have you felt the energy shift these past few years?

It’s hard to miss. We’ve adapted to doing everything differently. We haven’t had a choice.

And while many people have been pushed way beyond their comfort zones, I’m finding that as a woman in midlife, it solidified who I am and what I want most in this world.

You too?

I realize now, more than ever, that I’m not willing to maintain the status quo. I feel different. And I’m saying “so long” to everything as I’ve done it before.

I’m more conscious of my actions. I’m more dedicated to my outcomes. I know who I am, and I’m willing to do what’s right to ensure I get where I choose to go.

Clarity is vitally important for foundational wellth

Busyness leads to distraction. With a “full” life, you tend to move along with everyone else, doing things to please others or to fit in.

But then, something “hits” you over the head. A diagnosis. A death in the family. Something that shakes you to your core. (A pandemic maybe?)

It’s a wake-up call to your true self. It’s clarity in its finest performance.

It reaches out and tells you it’s time to get into a state of alignment. It’s time to push all other distractions aside. Because if you don’t … the writing is on the wall.

My moment of finding clarity … and peace

In the middle of the pandemic, distraction was everywhere. I found myself:

  • Involved in a shooting
  • Caregiving for a mom from afar
  • Helping a loved one through a cancer diagnosis
  • Losing a loved one to cancer
  • Losing clients for my business
  • Changing direction of my business
  • Moving to a new home

I’m not unique. I know we’ve all faced more in the past three years than many have faced in a lifetime. It’s been a huge adjustment.

But what I did notice was the way I felt. In 2021, I spent several months in my childhood home dealing with family issues. Then I worked through the process of selling my childhood house.

When I returned home, I gave myself the last three months of the year to “recover”, think, and relax. But I noticed right away that I felt okay. The outside world was “crazy”, but I was personally in a good place.

How?

Foundational wellth.

Ever since my dad died almost thirty years ago, I’ve been on a quest for better health and wellness. It’s been an ebb and flow, getting to the root of mind, body, and spiritual well-being. Foundational wellth.

The biggest enemy of achieving foundational wellth is the so-called “monkey mind.” It’s the state of letting all of the outside chatter affect your inner being. The more control you have over it internally, the more well-adjusted you are as things around you flow.

What does it take to create that inner well-being?

Connect with nature – I get out in nature every single day to connect with my inner self. Grounding with Earth’s energies is what helps bring peace to every moment of the day.

Nourish your body – bodies need energy. As a society, we’ve found a way to make ultra-processed food and empty calories the mainstay to “fill” up and “keep” a body running … for a while. It’s not working. Nourishing your body with high-quality, wholesome foods takes it to a different level. The aches and pains diminish. You get clearer in your day-to-day living. It’s truly the starting point of foundational wellth.

International quiet – solitude is a fantastic thing when you’re at peace with yourself. It starts with meditation in order to get in tune with your body and quiet your mind.

Journaling – it’s about gaining clarity of what’s happening in your life. It allows you to work through every issue you have in a safe space, helping you get clear on your motivations and intentions.

Need a boost in your foundational wellth reboot:

  • What is it time to say goodbye to?
  • What is it you really want?
  • What do you want to bring into your world?
  • What’s your most important goal?

As you start to see the “you” in the future, that’s where you can begin updating your foundational wellth:

  • Schedule a daily walk out in nature. Find parks around you and leave your phone in the car. (I keep mine on me for safety reasons and to have access to my notepad to write down inspiration. But I NEVER look at social media or answer texts. Ever. That can wait until I get back home or to the car.)
  • Create a kitchen you can fall in love with. Fill it with joy. That means throwing away foods that don’t provide wholesome nutrition. And pulling the “junk” out of your cabinets that stresses you out.
  • Get quiet. Allow yourself to get in the zone and dream.
  • Allow yourself to fill your life with beauty and gorgeous living.
  • Write (not type) what comes to mind. Don’t judge. This is where clarity comes from.

One of my favorite questions to ponder is:

Who am I?

Deep down, you know who you are.

It might change as you age. But you’re there. You know who you are.

And maybe now it’s time to get to know her even better.

And create foundational wellth.
