To say I love books would be an understatement. When I found out I was pregnant, the first place I visited was the bookstore. I invested in books like What To Expect When You’re Expecting for myself. And I started my daughter’s library with books from Dr Seuss, and great reads like Goodnight Moon.
Who invests in a bookshelf long before a toy box? I did!
I remember sitting there with my brand new baby girl, reading my entrepreneurial books aloud to her. As she grew older, I’d pull all of her books off the shelf, point to each word as I read it, and described what was in the pictures.
Is it any wonder she was an advanced reader by the age of three?
Or that she has my voracious reading habit now that she’s in her twenties?
Our favorite store in the whole wide world is a bookstore! Yup, we always visit at least one everywhere we travel.
This is my fourth year tracking my best reads from the year. I listed 57 in 2019, 51 in 2020, 54 in 2021, for a total of 162 recommended books so far.
I read for fun. I read for enjoyment. I read to learn. I read to explore.
I read fiction. I read nonfiction. I read novels. I read highly detailed books on subjects close to my heart.
I don’t recommend every book I start or pick up. I only list the books I spend time with, ones I find value in and enjoy.
Browse through my lists if you need a good recommendation.
And if you have one in return, I’d love to hear from you!

- *I love Marie Benedict’s writing at the moment, so I’ve been reading through all of her books. That’s the way I tend to work – I find a new author and read through their library.
- **Every year I participate in my local community’s Read program. Over 800 books are distributed throughout the community, we have a month to read it, followed by a month of classes and talks surrounding the topic of the book.
